Wivenhoe Town Council's 'Communty Bus' was made possible by generous donations from the community to the Wivenhoe Mayor's Charity Fund.

You may have noticed the strange spelling of community which started with the misspelling by sign writers on the first bus.

The current vehicle purchased in 2017, is a Ford Transit LWB, 14 seater including driver, with RICON S2030 internal hydraulic lift that is suitable for ambulant wheelchair users. It has a 2.2 litre diesel engine, 6 speed gearbox with power assisted steering and reversing camera. All seats are fitted with safety belts.

The vehicle cannot be used on a profit making basis, nor can it be used for hire or reward, or picking up the public at large. The insurance covers any driver with a full UK driving licence which includes the category D1, between the ages of 25 and 80, with at least 12 months driving experience. The driver shall not have had any accidents, losses or damages in respect of any vehicle within the last 5 years and not have had any motoring convictions within the last 5 years.
